Pengertian dan Contoh Kalimat Absolute Phrase – Absolute phrase adalah frase/sekumpulan kata yang menambahkan penjelasan tentang sebuah kalimat atau meningkatkan kualitas kalimat tersebut. Absolute phrase digunakan oleh penulis atau penyair untuk membuat tulisan mereka menjadi lebih menarik. Absolute phrase bisa diletakkan di awal kalimat, mengikuti kalimat, atau ditengah-tengah kalimat utama.
Absolute Phrase
Absolute phrases biasanya terdiri dari kata benda dan kata penjelas lainnya yang fungsinya menjelaskan kata benda tersebut. Absolute phrase digunakan sebagai pilihan, artinya apabila kita hilangkan absolute phrase dalam kalimat tersebut, maka secara grammar kalimat utama nya tidak akan terganggu atau rusak. Absolute phrase biasanya dipisahkan dari kalimat utamanya dengan tanda koma atau tanda strip (-).

1. Kalimat utama:
These boys are enjoying soccer.
Kalimat yang dimodifikasi menggunakan absolute phrase:
These boys are enjoying soccer, their toes kicking, working and chasing the ball.
2. Kalimat utama:
These women are finding out.
Kalimat yang dimodifikasi menggunakan absolute phrase:
These women are finding out, their arms writing, and their eyes studying.
3. Kalimat utama:
His youngsters can’t hold calm.
Kalimat yang dimodifikasi menggunakan absolute phrase:
His youngsters can’t hold calm, they crawling, working, and leaping.
4. Kalimat utama:
The workplace was crowded this morning.
Kalimat yang dimodifikasi menggunakan absolute phrase:
The workplace was crowded this morning, the workers fixing the info, the supervisor checking the report and the boss advising.
Perhatikan dan ingat bahwa absolute phrase tidak mengandung kata kerja (verb), mereka juga tidak dihubungkan dengan kalimat utamanya menggunakan kata hubung (conjunction).
Ketika sebuah participle dan noun (kata benda) yang disandingkan bersama membentuk sebuah induk kalimat (unbiased clause), struktur frase tersebut bisa juga disebut absolute phrase.
Contoh:
Our dad and mom allowing, we will get married quickly.
My mom calling, I’ve to go dwelling now.
The room being messy, we should always tidy it up.
The solar having set, we end our recreation,
Her child crying, my sister goes dwelling early.

Absolute phrases juga digunakan untuk menggabungkan dua klausa yang memiliki subjek berbeda. Berikut ini adalah dua kalimat yang memiliki subjek berbeda, kemudian kita gabungkan dengan menggunakan participle.

1. Our household are in trip. We nonetheless work within the workplace.
Our household being in trip, we nonetheless work within the workplace.
2. It’s a sunny day. We swim on the seashore at the moment.
It being a sunny day, we swim on the seashore at the moment.
Mengubah Absolute Phrase Menjadi Dependent Clause
Kita bisa mengubah absolute phrase ke dalam bentuk dependent clause (anak kalimat) yang menjelaskan mengenai waktu, kondisi, ataupun sebab-akibat.
Contoh :
Our dad and mom allowing bisa diubah menjadi “If our dad and mom permits…”
If our dad and mom permits, we will get married quickly.
My mom calling bisa diubah menjadi “As a result of my mom calls…”
As a result of my mom calls, I’ve to go dwelling now.
The room being messy bisa diubah menjadi “When the room is messy…”
When the room is messy, we should always tidy it up.
The solar having set bisa diubah menjadi “When the solar units…”
When the solar units, we end our recreation.
Her child crying “As a result of her child is crying…”
As a result of her child is crying, my sister goes dwelling early.
Her sister getting married this month bisa diubah menjadi “As a result of her sister goes to get married this month…”
